With over 25 years in the pensions industry, including five years as the legal director of a leading financial services company, Jennifer has extensive experience as an independent trustee, pension scheme secretary and pensions lawyer.

She specialises in pension scheme governance ensuring that trustee boards fulfil their obligations to members in an efficient and effective way.

With her in-house experience, Jennifer has the knowledge and awareness of running a pension scheme from the perspectives of both trustees and employers, making her ideally placed to provide commercial and pragmatic advice in a way which she knows, from experience, will be workable in practice. She focuses on building trusted and collaborative relationships with sponsoring employers, finding solutions to complex issues, ensuring the smooth governance of the schemes and protecting members’ interests.

She is a qualified solicitor and a member of the Pensions Management Institute (PMI).

Jennifer is also an Accredited Member of the Association of Professional Pension Trustees (AMAPPT).

  • Acting as independent trustee for various defined benefit and defined contribution schemes, either as chair of the trustee board or as a member of the board, including chairing sub-committees responsible for governance and scheme operations.
  • Managing complex projects on behalf of trustee boards: recent projects include risk transfer transactions, buy-in transactions, GMP rectification and equalisation exercises and adviser selection/administration outsourcing.
  • Providing scheme secretarial and governance services to both defined benefit and defined contribution schemes, ranging in asset size from £50m to £2bn, including schemes for international employees.
  • Providing interim pensions manager support for various defined benefit schemes.
  • Managing trustee advisory teams to deliver cost effective and high-quality advice.
  • Delivering training and guidance for trustee boards in preparation for The Pension Regulator’s General Code, including gap analysis and recommendations for next steps.
  • Non-executive director experience in the public sector: vice chair of the Scottish Police Pensions Board and, prior to that, Vice Chair of the Scottish Teachers’ Pensions Board. These pension boards assist the Scottish Public Pensions Agency in ensuring the effective and efficient governance and administration of the Scottish Police Pension Scheme and the Scottish Teachers’ Pension Scheme respectively.
