Pensions for Purpose’s new Impact Lens Research

A new report explores the evolving stewardship landscape, drawing on insights from 21 interviews with UK-based asset owners, trustees, and investment professionals.

It identifies key challenges, including inconsistencies in voting, engagement, and accountability, as well as resource constraints faced by smaller funds. The report also highlights concerns around the misalignment between asset owners’ stewardship priorities and asset managers’ actions, leading some to take a more active role in oversight.

It calls for stronger governance, clearer communication, and greater industry collaboration to address systemic risks. While challenges remain, the findings indicate progress, with asset owners increasingly refining engagement strategies and leveraging collective action to drive meaningful change.
