Jake Churchill

Jake is an experienced pensions governance professional and Associate Director at IGG, where he serves as Deputy Head of Outsourced Governance Services (OGS). Together with the Head of OGS, Jake helps lead the firm’s governance service delivery, supporting the development of governance strategy, best practice, colleague development and client solutions across a broad range of occupational pension schemes.

Since beginning his pensions career in 2014, Jake has developed extensive experience in pensions governance, secretariat services, regulatory compliance and trustee support. He advises trustees of complex defined benefit and hybrid pension schemes, including many with assets exceeding £1 billion, helping them navigate an increasingly demanding regulatory and governance landscape.

Jake is recognised across the industry for his contribution to governance innovation and thought leadership. He has played a leading role in IGG’s response to The Pensions Regulator’s General Code, particularly in the development of the firm’s Own Risk Assessment (ORA) framework, methodology and supporting collateral. Working as part of IGG’s specialist ORA team, Jake has helped design governance assessment tools, trustee guidance materials, training resources and practical implementation approaches that support trustee boards in meeting their ORA and Effective System of Governance (ESOG) obligations.

Alongside his client responsibilities, Jake is actively involved in developing governance thought leadership, internal training programmes and practical resources that enable trustees and governance professionals to deliver better member outcomes. He regularly presents at industry events and contributes to wider discussions on governance effectiveness, regulatory developments and trustee best practice.

In recognition of his growing impact within the pensions industry, Jake was shortlisted for Trustee of the Year at the 2026 Professional Pensions Awards and was also shortlisted as Star in the Making at the PMI Pinnacle Awards 2026.

Jake has a particular interest in governance effectiveness, trustee board development, risk management and diversity, equity and inclusion. He is a fully accredited Trustee with the Association of Professional Pension Trustees (APPT) and remains committed to helping pension schemes achieve robust governance standards while maintaining a clear focus on member outcomes.

I wanted to put on record my thanks to Jake for the super facilitation of the meeting today and bringing in the best practices and shared learning from the IGG team. Jake quickly established a good rapport with the trustee board and is super responsive to trustee queries and action requests. This will all be of great benefit to Trustee board governance going forward as the agenda, regulation, legislation and opportunities continue to evolve.
