Joanne Holden

Joanne has over 20 years’ experience in the pensions industry, including four years as Non- Executive Trustee Director of Charterhouse Pensions Limited. She has a particular passion and specialism in pension scheme good governance and risk management for pension schemes, making sure things are done in the right and proportionate way.

Prior to joining IGG she was Head of Governance for the DC Master Trust at HSBC, and in her role as a member of the Executive Committee, she lead on the risk and governance aspects of the Master Trust, and was responsible for delivery of the commercial strategy of the Trust. Joanne was also responsible for managing the Bank’s global pension risk exposures, covering c.130 DB, DC and hybrid pension and benefit plans.

Joanne is known for her collaborative style and has a keen eye and attention to detail. She endeavours to foster a compliance culture in her teams, through good and effective governance. Her knowledge of pension scheme and corporate governance enables robust review and challenge of important and current key regulatory topics. Her strengths include project management, risk review, compliance, relationship management, attention to detail and problem solving. She has worked within the consulting space, as a trustee and on a number of in-house sponsor secondments and projects over her career. This experience means Joanne is able to understand all view points to work towards effective and efficient outcomes, as well as using her expertise and understanding of what good, and indeed excellence looks like to all parties in this area, to the benefit of schemes and plans to which she is appointed.

Joanne has worked closely with the Pensions Regulator regarding the Master Trust Supervisory Regime. She has also worked at the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) transitioning Schemes into the PPF and also with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) moving the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) into the PPF.

She is experienced in managing large and complex projects: recent projects include risk transfer transactions, buy-in and buy-out transactions, GMP rectification and equalisation exercises and adviser re- tender exercises.
