Joe joined Independent Governance Group in January 2021 and has five years’ experience in the pensions industry; prior to joining IGG, he worked for Aon providing Scheme Secretarial and Pensions Management support across both DB and DC solutions.

Joe is an effective project manager who can use his understanding of Pension provision and interpersonal abilities to produce favourable results quickly. He is the primary point of contact for many of his clients for both Trustees/Advisers and has experience handling a variety of Defined Benefit Scheme issues.

His experience includes advising trustees on key strategy and long term planning, leading Trustees through adviser selection exercises, Trustee Board structure changes to ensure that the Scheme is best placed for the future.

Joe is currently working towards working towards gaining Advanced Diploma in Retirement Provision status from the PMI.

  • Adviser Review exercises (ensuring VFM from the Schemes Advisers)
  • Extensive Project Management experience (Bulk Transfers/Liability Management)
  • Financial Management and benchmarking to ensure Schemes receive VFM for all activity
  • Liaising with Advisers/Trustee Boards on ongoing actions and building key relationships whilst doing so
  • Maintaining and updating governance documentation
  • Member Communications
  • Overseeing day-to-day activities amongst his Schemes
  • Overseeing the Trustee Report and Accounts process
  • Trustee Meeting preparation/attendance/follow-up

Leading on Key Projects such as (Bulk Transfers, Liability Management exercises and restructuring of Trustee Boards to ensuring focus on strategic matters).

Processing death cases, disinvestment/investment instructions on behalf of the Trustee.

Leading on a number of Adviser Review exercises to ensuring that the Scheme’s advisers are receiving good advice/VFM.

Extensive project management experience to ensure projects are carried out efficiently and come in within budget (where possible).
