Peter Clarke

Peter has over 20 years’ experience as Secretary to Trustees and Trustee of both DB and DC pension schemes in the UK and Ireland, including managing outsourced administration contracts. He has worked both in-house and with major Third Party Administrators and insurers.

He supports the lead Director in co-trusteeships on schemes, with a strong focus on governance to reduce operational risk. Peter combines knowledge of legislation, scheme rules, and practice with technical expertise in administration, member matters, and communications, bringing perspective from both adviser and trustee roles.

Peter has mentored pensions teams and lay trustees, managed in-house teams supporting Trustee Boards, and delivered trustee induction and ongoing TKU programmes, while overseeing team development and governance services.

In a previous role as Pensions Manager for an in-house governance and secretarial team, he managed employee and member communications and supported major projects, including the implementation of a £1bn longevity swap across five DB schemes, working closely with Trustee Boards and advisers to ensure effective governance. He also coordinated the data cleanse and transaction project team for a £1bn buy-in across two DB schemes.

He has recently completed a number of interim roles, acting as Secretariat support for closed Coal Industry pension schemes and managing in-house pensions for a large employer, including overseeing day-to-day administration and transition to a Third Party Administrator.

Peter is an Associate of the Pensions Management Institute and Chartered Insurance Institute, a Chartered Insurance Practitioner, and an accredited professional trustee with the Association of Professional Pension Trustees.
