Richard Cousins

Richard has 35 years’ pensions experience with the past 20 years’ as a partner at PwC giving actuarial advice to corporates on transactions, scheme funding, negotiations, buy-ins, de-risking, and alternative funding vehicles.

Richard adopts a consensual approach between trustees and employers in all matters, particularly in terms of long-term objectives, valuations and end game journey planning.

Richard has vast experience as a consultant and professional trustee working with principal employers to agree and complete valuations. There are rarely any issues with valuations that Richard has not experienced allowing him to complete these projects efficiently and cost effectively.

Richard is head of IGG Actuarial Group which supports other Trustee Directors on projects such as GMP equalisation, alternative funding approaches, buy-ins, cash flow matching and actuarial tenders.

Richard enjoys a strong and productive relationship with The Pensions Regulator and has worked with the Regulator since its establishment in 2005.

Richard is a fully accredited professional pensions trustee with the Association of Professional Pension Trustees, a member of the Pensions Management Institute and a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
