Susan Andrews

Susan has significant experience as a professional trustee and is a highly respected industry figure. She has a reputation for building strong relationships between all stakeholders and for ensuring the interests of trustees, scheme members and the Sponsor are balanced.

Susan brings leadership and enormous industry experience to the management of her schemes which in turn provides clients with practical and valuable insight into the issues they face. Before joining Independent Governance Group, Susan was a pensions partner at Pinsent Masons and ran its trustee company.

Susan delivers solid trusteeship. She is focused on achieving strong governance for her schemes, including a rigorous approach to risk management. She enjoys productive relationships with her co-trustees, sponsoring employers and advisers and places a great deal of emphasis on the need for all parties to work pragmatically, collaboratively and commercially. Her relationships with other advisers are productive and she is comfortable with challenging adviser opinion where appropriate and where a better outcome may be achievable.

Susan has a thorough understanding of the issues surrounding the management of scheme funding and investment risk to ensure the safe custody of the scheme’s assets.

Susan is a fully-accredited professional trustee with the Association of Professional Pension Trustees and an accredited trustee with the Pensions Management Institute (PMI). She is a past President of the PMI and has also acted as the Secretary of the Association of Pension Lawyers.
